How Can I Join San Gabriel Christian Church?

How Can I Join San Gabriel Christian Church?

Sometimes people ask “How can I join your church?” and we tell them, “You can’t.”  It is not our  church, it is the Lord’s.  And you can’t join, Acts 2:47 say the Lord adds you to His church.

The church is not a man-made organization that can come up with its own rules of initiation.  It is the Lord’s church, bought with His own blood, and entrance comes on His terms.  When as a penitent believer you confess Christ as Lord and Savior and the Son of God and are baptized (immersed) into Christ for the remission of sins, the Lord adds you to His church.

San Gabriel is not a part of any man-made organization.  We are simply trying to be a part of the church the Lord came to establish.  If you are a part of the Lord’s church you are already a member of the church we belong to.

The church is a family.  All of us have family members we see only occasionally at weddings, reunions, etc.  They are family, but not really an active part of our life.  But we also have a nuclear family; brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents to whom we are close and who are an active part of our life.  That is how it is with the church.  We have brothers and sisters in Christ we will never meet until heaven.  But the local congregation is our “nuclear family” in Christ.  People we know intimately and can count on.  That is what it means to be a part of a local fellowship of Christians.

If you are a Christian, a part of the church, the body of Christ, you are already a part of our family.  But if you want a place of fellowship and activity; a place where your life can count with those of “like precious faith” and you can come to know and count on an “immediate family” who comes to know and count on you, we encourage you to think about putting your heart and life to work here at San Gabriel.  You may talk with the preacher, a Bible School teacher or one of the elders if you have questions.  When you have made your decision you may respond to the invitation at the conclusion of the service and share your desire with the congregation at that time.  We don’t vote on members; the Lord adds to the church those who are being saved.  If you have a letter from your previous congregation, that is fine, but not necessary.  If you are a Christian, your word is your bond.  If you are an immersed believer in Jesus Christ, we encourage you to put you life, your influence and your witness to work with those of “like precious faith” here at San Gabriel.
